Pre-op Meds: Ancef  or clindamycin, Decadron

Anesthesia:  general

Patient position: supine

Bed position: 90°

DVT ppx:  compression boots on and working BEFORE induction of anesthesia

Side Table: none

Lights: surgeons headlamp, fiber-optic light source

Power: no

Bovie Settings: 20-20, Colorado tip

Preinjection1% lidocaine, 1/100 day epinephrine, 30 mL

Prep: Betadine soap is used to wash the hair and then rubber bands are used to braid the hair anteriorly and staples are used to hold the hair down posteriorly

Drapes:  head draped and four  towels plus split sheet

Instrument sets: endoscopic brow set, Storz endoscopic tower if endoscopic only

Special Instruments: endoscopic brow set 

Devices/Implants: striker screws three if endoscopic only

Hypodermic needle: 25gauge

Syringes: 10 mL

Drains: none

Suture: 2-0 PDS, 4-0 monocryl, 4-0 chromic

Anesthesia on field: 1% lidocaine with 1/100 K epinephrine

Dressing: non-

Admission status:SDS

Estimated time:90 minutes

Post-op wound care:   wash hair with shampoo from pharmacy.  Topical antibiotic ointment to wound and wash hair in a.m.

Post-op activity restirctions:  light activity for two weeks

Follow up:  one week
